Everyone dreams of a “WOW closet” – one with a huge mirror, endless rows of shoes and isles of clothing. Wouldn't that be amazing? Unfortunately, not all of us have the budget or the space to create that lavish designer dressing room.
So, what do we do? Flip through magazines with a wishful gaze and dream of a beautiful closet. ClosetMaid wants you to stop dreaming and start doing!
With a little imagination and the right products, every closet can be designer inspired – DIY acquired. In order to support our theory, the ClosetMaid team set out to re-create an extravagant custom-designed closet in a much smaller space, with a much smaller budget. The results are impressive:
We loved the color and interesting pattern of the wallpaper on the ceiling in the designer closet. To re-create the look, the ClosetMaid team painted the walls of this couple’s closet a muted purple. The color’s grey undertones create a calm feeling and make the color more gender neutral. The grey chevron rug was added to ground the space, add texture and represent a more masculine sense of style.
The next step was to install a closet organizing system to perfectly organize clothing, shoes, bags and accessories. Inspired by the white wood shelving in the designer closet, we installed ClosetMaid Selectives. The white laminate system mimics the open, airy feeling of the designer closet, and its refined details, such as decorative molding, five-panel drawer fronts and Satin Nickel hardware, create a high-end look and feel.
To create the same functional storage as the designer closet, the ClosetMaid team installed plenty of drawers for folded items. Concealed European-style hinges offer a clean aesthetic, and full-extension drawer glides ensure that drawers slide smoothly and pull out completely to maximize storage space. Shelf organizers added to the top of the closet maximize vertical storage space, and fabric bins were used to store accessories and seasonal items like scarves and gloves. Finally, the team re-created a smaller version of the luxurious dressing station in the designer closet. A ClosetMaid Selectives 25 inch Base Unit, installed on the rear wall of the closet, creates a chic vanity with two five - inch drawers to hold jewelry and make-up. The eclectic hanging mirror isn’t only practical for checking finishing touches, but makes the space seem larger by reflecting the light from an inexpensive DIY light fixture.
