There’s nothing like coming home to a clean house at the end of the day, right? It’s one of life’s simplest pleasures. The floors are clean, surfaces are clear and EVERYTHING is in its place. Clutter-free is truly the way to be. (Did we just write our new life motto?)
If only we could keep it that way.
Despite our best efforts, magazines, remote controls, children’s toys and more keep reappearing. Staying tidy is a never-ending chore, and who has time for another one of those?
But what if the solution was in front of us all along?
What if instead of bringing the clutter to the storage space...we brought the storage space to the clutter?
Here are five of our favorite ways to keep a few common clutter-collecting areas organized with functional (and stylish) storage furniture:
Give stray toys a home with kids’ storage.
Tip #1 - Free the Floor: Take it from us and our Lego-scarred feet, floor-level storage for stray toys is a MUST. The foot of the bed is our favorite place to keep a toy chest or bench with shelves, which is perfect for tucking in toys as the last activity before bedtime.
Tip #2 - Follow the Mess: When it’s time for play, toys never stay in one place for long. Having an easy-to-roll toy cart on hand is perfect for making the post-playtime toy round-up a breeze.
Living Rooms & Entryway Storage:
Tip #3 - Don’t Let Keys “Wall-k” Away: Keys, wallets and other pocket-sized items are the bane of an organized living room or entryway. Adding a floating wall shelf to a busy walkway creates the perfect landing spot for important, but commonly misplaced items!
Take advantage of under-the-table storage with X-Frame Furniture.
Tip #4 - Invest in Tables with Storage: Coffee tables and end tables are prime spots to collect clutter (looking at you, old magazines and mail). Invest in tables with built-in drawers or shelves, Use Fabric Bins or Wire Baskets as convenient clutter catch-alls on the lower shelves.
Use lower shelves on bookcases to store clutter.
Tip #5 – Don’t Forget the Bookcase: A well-appointed bookshelf is a must for living room décor. Our favorite? This retro-meets-modern Ladder Shelf. While you decorate the eye-level rungs with books, photographs and other pieces, use the floor-level shelves to sneak in storage for loose items in Fabric Bins or other on-trend containers.
